The Massachusetts School Library Study: Equity and Access for Students of the Commonwealth
This survey research collected data on the status of students' access to school library resources and services in 521 schools in rural, urban, and suburban school districts. The Massachusetts Legislature charged the School Library Commission to report findings and make recommendations to improve resources and services. based on the findings.
An online survey gathered quantitative and qualitative data from school librarians on the status of student access to library facilities, staffing, print and digital information resources, information technology, funding and subsidized resources, and instruction and help. Findings showed statistically significant differences among access to these indicators in rural, urban, and suburban school districts.
